Chemicals and energy group Sasol has signed a three-year agreement to work with international carbon solutions provider Vertree Partners on access to carbon credits and climate investments.
In a joint statement, the companies said Vertree would help Sasol devise pathways for decarbonisation and provide access to existing and future supplies of high-quality carbon credits and other environmental investments.
Sasol, which has set a net-zero goal for 2050, has committed to reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 30% by 2030, and to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 20%.
The group also stated that carbon credits would be used to supplement rather than replace the company’s emission reduction activities.
