Richard Doyle has been appointed Managing Director for juwi South Africa effective 1 December 2020, after previous MD Greg Austin recently became Regional Director for the EMEA region.

Doyle joined the Cape Town team in 2019 as Head of Business Development. Since joining the company, he has worked on building the Sales team and pipeline, as well as developing the Corporate PPA strategy for South Africa. He has extensive experience in renewable energy sector having worked on battery and PV projects in South Africa and UK since 1997.  Richard established 3E Renewable Energy Services local office in South Africa and was involved in the implementation of the first solar PV Private PPA at Avelar.  Richard bid and closed the Coca Cola Portfolio PPA at Mulilo before joining juwi.  He holds a MSc in Applied Science and a PhD in Physics and has joint nationality in the United Kingdom and South Africa.

“The South African subsidiary of juwi is fortunate to have individuals who are strong supporters of renewable energy, passionate about its environmental and social attributes, and are committed to contributing clean energy to the country and planet.  One of the deciding factors in the recruitment process was Richard’s business management experience, on top of his experience in EPC contract negotiations.  I am particularly pleased that we were able to fill this position from within the ZA team, noting that the quality of the applicants was impressive. I wish Richard and the South African team well as they move forward under the direction of the new MD,” says Austin.

As the ZA MD, Richard will form part of the EMEA Management team and the International Management team.

“I am delighted and honoured at this opportunity.  It has been a great experience to date getting to know the local and international teams and their impressive strengths and track record.  A number of planets are aligning at local and international level, largely as a result of ongoing consolidation of reputation as well as careful strategic planning.  This bodes very well for juwi in South Africa in particular and I look forward to working together to bank these opportunities and entrench juwi as the go-to player in the PD+EPC+O&M space on the continent. We are well positioned to leverage our brand and reputation as a serious developer and EPC across all our business models: utility scale grid-connected projects, bilateral PPAs and hybrid power projects”, says Richard.
