Renergen offering 20 Cryo-Vacc units for any company’s use in Dec

The Cryo-Vacc unit.

In light of the anticipated fourth wave of Covid-19 infections that is about to grip the country, South African company Renergen is offering the use of 20 of its Jumbo Cryo-Vacc units, at its own cost, for December, to assist in ensuring safe transportation of an estimated 16-million doses.

This offer is open to any organisation currently involved in the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine roll-out.

The vaccines are sourced from the main cold-storage facilities destined for the smaller vaccination sites across the country. Cryo-Vacc has successfully participated in the safe transport and storage of close to 750 000 Pfizer vaccinations in South Africa, the company says in a November 29 statement.

The natural gas and helium supplier says it is “becoming clear” that the slower vaccine uptake in South Africa is causing a backlog in the distribution of vaccines, which is in turn placing pressure on the cold-chain logistics and storage of ultra-cold vaccines.

CEO Stefano Marani says it is the company’s “strong belief” that the Cryo-Vacc’s secure, unbroken, monitored and tracked cold-storage transport solution “offers the assurances required for people to step forward and get vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones, and help safeguard the citizens of our beautiful country in the fight against Covid-19”.
