Project Description
The project proposes to build the world’s most modern sawmill.

The new facility will produce about 750 000 m3/y of pine sawn timber.

The sawmill will use machine vision and artificial intelligence in different stages of the sawing process, which is a significant new development. Similar technology is not yet in use anywhere in the sawmill industry.

Potential Job Creation
The new sawmill will employ about 100 people directly and about 500 people across its direct value chain in Finland.

Capital Expenditure
The project is estimated at about €200-million.

Planned Start/End Date
Construction of the mill will begin in 2020, with production expected to begin in the third quarter of 2022. The Coronavirus outbreak, however, may have an impact on the schedules.
