Compressor group appoints Botswana agency

BRAND PRESENCE Rand-Air has a fleet of more than 700 Atlas Copco compressors and generators, which include electric and diesel compressors

Compressor and generator rental company Rand-Air has appointed power generation and mining equipment and parts supplier Outdistance, which services the mining, engineering, power and construction industries in Botswana, as an agency of choice in the market.

Rand-Air, part of Atlas Copco group, continues to solidify its brand presence in this market, following a market presence of almost 21 years in Botswana and operating under the Atlas Copco legal entity for the past seven years.

The company has a fleet of more than 700 Atlas Copco compressors and generators, which include electric and diesel compressors and an environment-friendly range of oil-free compressors, spread across ten branches and agencies in South Africa.

“Rand-Air’s needs in Botswana required that we partner with an agency to take over all the servicing of compressors in this market. “Outdistance covers the entire Botswana area from their 4 000 m2 property, in Phakalane, and it was this, alongside the agency’s . . . reputation, that influenced Rand-Air’s decision to choose them as [a] partner,” says Rand-Air GM Louwrens Erasmus.

Outdistance MD Marc Dorey adds that the addition of the Rand-Air brand to the company’s portfolio allows for Outdistance to offer cus- tomers backup solutions for critical equipment in the unfortunate event of a breakdown to ensure that their business continues operating optimally no matter the situation.

“This also allows us to assist customers to craft new and innovative solutions on a monthly operational expenditure model that otherwise they might not have been able to consider.”

Outdistance is also the country distributor for Atlas Copco Construction Technique and receives enquiries on an ongoing basis for predictable air and power rentals.

Dorey concludes that, by introducing Rand-Air into the company’s portfolio, Outdistance can expand its service offering and address these enquiries.
