Enterprise development vehicle Property Point, a Growthpoint Properties initiative, has invited entrepreneurs that have businesses operating in the property industry to apply for its next two-year enterprise development programme intake before January 31, 2017.
As part of its latest intake, Property Point is looking for motivated individuals running small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in electrical work, waste management, plumbing, renovations, landscaping, air-conditioning and related services, fire protection services, security, waterproofing and damp proofing, cleaning and hygiene services, aluminium door frames and painting.
To be considered, entrepreneurs need to be based in or around Johannesburg, but there will be intakes in other regions in the coming months. Their businesses should at least be 51% black-owned, have operated for no less than two consecutive years and offer services in the property industry. They must have a track record of projects completed and can provide a minimum of five references.
Since its inception in 2008, Property Point has generated over R555-million in procurement opportunities for its SMEs. Beneficiary companies are reporting a 76% average yearly growth rate in turnover, with the 114 Property Point beneficiary companies having created 1 327 jobs.
Property Point head Shawn Theunissen noted that the initiative aimed to transform South Africa by supporting small businesses. “We’re looking for go-getters with entrepreneurial drive and a hunger for business success who are a good fit for our programme,” said Theunissen.
However, he encouraged businesses that do not qualify for this intake to put goals in place to meet the requirements to be considered for future intakes.
“Property Point’s monthly To The Point sessions, which are open to all entrepreneurs, is another way we support small business, and we encourage business people who are interested in our enterprise and supplier development programmes to attend them,” said Theunissen.
Applications for the intake close on January 31 and only successful applicants will be contacted by mid-February.
