The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) will oppose the "meritless" application by its former Group CEO Zolani Matthews to interdict the termination of his employment, it said on December 15.

It confirmed being served with an urgent application to interdict Matthews' already finalised termination of employment and said it would seek an appropriate cost order against Matthews.

"The application also seeks to interdict PRASA from communicating with the media in respect of his already concluded termination of employment. PRASA will only entertain media enquiries concerning this matter once the court has issued judgment," PRASA said.

PRASA on December 2 announced that it had terminated Matthews' employment, following an investigation into his holding of British citizenship.
