Power tools specialist launches new impact drill

Power tools manufacturer Bosch will, in the first quarter of this year, launch the GSB 162-2 RE professional impact drill, featuring a 1500 W high-performance motor with a high overload capacity for hard applications, says Bosch industrial power tools senior brand manager Juergen Lauer.

He tells Engineering News the drill is ideal for dry-core drilling in concrete and masonry, screwdriving and large-diameter drilling, as well as for stirring viscous substances.

“The GSB 162-2 RE professional impact drill has a two-speed gearbox that ensures precise drilling. There is a large gap between the first and second gears, which enables diamond core cutters to be used at a low speed, while the increased speed guarantees improved work progress when using diamond core cutters with a diameter of up to 162 mm.”

Lauer further notes that the drill features a rotating brush plate that secures equal power for forward and reverse rotation.

“For increased user safety, there is an antirotation overload clutch and restart protection, which prevents the tool from automatically restarting after a power cut. The drill also features a 16 mm keyless chuck that locks automatically, thereby increasing user safety and ensuring easy handling,” he adds.

Lauer believes the Bosch GSB 162-2 RE is an ideal impact drill for professionals, owing to its various safety features and user-friendly design.

“The radial and axial handles provide the user with a secure grip when using the tool. The main handle has a soft grip covering, ensuring that the user has a secure hold of the tool and increased user comfort. This secure grip is essential when completing demanding tasks,” he explains.

Meanwhile, Bosch has also launched its GTS1041A Reaxx portable jobsite table saw, the first saw that features the company’s proprietary flesh-detecting Active Response Technology to help reduce potential user injury.

The Bosch Active Response Technology platform, first featured on Bosch Brute Tough hammer drills/drivers, helps reduce the risk of injury to users by combining advanced Bosch sensors and electronics with mechanical injury-prevention systems. The Active Response Technology system on the Reaxx table saw rapidly detects human flesh that comes in contact with the blade and drops the saw blade below the tabletop. This high-speed action helps reduce the potential of serious user injury and occurs without damaging the blade.

After activation, the system can be reset in less than 60 seconds. A single two-shot cartridge enables activation for two incidents before replacement is needed. The user simply needs to rotate the activation cartridge and reset the drop mechanism to ensure that the Reaxx table saw is ready to go. All the necessary parts, instructions and wrenches are located on board the saw, including storage for extra activation cartridges.

“We’ve engineered the Bosch Reaxx portable jobsite table saw to offer users the best injury mitigation system available in the power tool industry. “But, even with the new safety enhancements, the award-winning attributes of the Bosch 4100 table saw series remain. There’s a heritage in jobsite table saws that Bosch has spent decades building and users will find that this saw maintains that high standard,” concludes Robert Bosch Tool Corporation product manager Craig Wilson.
