- Dr. Sadoway was chosen as Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2012, and Bill gates has also invested in his start up.
- Kelvin Doe, Innovator & Founder, Kelvin Doe Foundation, Sierra Leon. Doe, a completely self-taught engineer, manages his own fully-staffed community radio station in Sierra Leone, which is powered by a generator created from a deteriorating voltage stabiliser. Among those inventions is a battery that he created to light up homes in his neighbourhood. Kelvin Doe’s inventions are especially valuable in his home country of Sierra Leone, where, according to Kelvin, the lights there only turn on “about once a week.” The President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, has hailed Kelvin as a role model other African youth should emulate. Join Kelvin at Power and Electricity World Africa as he shares his story and speaks about how to get more young people involved in powering the continent.
