Parker Hannifin to Showcase Composite Solutions for Rail at the RIA Conference 2016

Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, will be show casing its expertise in composite solutions at the upcoming Rail Industry Association Technology Innovation Conference in March 2016. Parker will be presenting its range of composite and additive manufacturing rail solutions and electro-pneumatic control systems. Application experts will be on hand to discuss the company’s diverse range of solutions for infrastructure, passenger and freight projects.

With over 16 years of experience, Parker has developed a deep and extensive knowledge of additive manufacturing technology to engineer and manufacture prototypes and production parts to meet specific application needs. The impact of the engineering potential for the rail industry in terms of component size and weight as well as impacting reverse engineering and improving obsolescence management is now emerging. Parker’s expertise is supporting the development of prototypes and space models for new design concepts, delivering design freedom through additive manufacturing of production parts, and innovating in vehicle improvement and refurbishments projects.

Working in partnership with the world’s leading rail OEMs, tiered suppliers and refurbishment providers, Parker has a long pedigree within the rail industry. When it comes to this demanding sector the key is to offer technologies that are rail certified for proven reliability and endurance. The ability to match environmental challenges with operational excellence has led Parker to offer a rail range that includes (but is not limited to) pneumatic and electrically operated actuators, air preparation, control valves, customised control systems, electric motors, hose/ fittings, rail accessories plus additive manufacturing and composite solutions.

“Modern railway vehicles whether passenger or freight train, metro car, track maintenance or tram, are expected to operate reliably and often in some of the most challenging conditions” stated Dave Walker, Market Development Manager for Rail at Parker Hannifin. “Indeed, it is crucial that these machines withstand extreme temperatures and attacks from aggressive contaminants as well as enduring severe shock and vibration. Here at Parker we offer the products, technical know-how, and close customer support and supply chain capabilities to meet the global challenges of the rail industry head on”
