Metal workers trade union the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) has given notice of its intention to initiate wage negotiations at the Metals and Engineering Industry Bargaining Council (MEIBC).
In terms of the MEIBC constitution, it will now meet to facilitate and provide a platform for negotiations between employers and trade unions.
Employer organisations will be afforded time to seek a mandate from its members in response to the unions’ demands.
