JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed platinum producer Northam Platinum on Friday said it had lost about R46.2-million in revenue since rock drill operators at its Zondereinde mine have refused to go underground since April 2.

The company reported that operations at the mine had been halted, with the rock drill operators downing tools and demanding a 38% increase in their  bonuses. The work stoppage was estimated to have resulted in lost production of about 120 kg of metal in concentrate.

Zondereinde’s management team has constituted a consultative forum and was engaging with employee representatives to try to resume operations.
