New valves division will provide solutions across industries

As part of the recently launched EMVAfrica brand, the ENERGYValves division is positioned as not only a supplier of valves but also a one-stop-shop valves solution.

Engineering News reported last month that industrial stainless steel suppliers Energy Engineered Products, industrial special alloy supplier Multi Alloys and stainless steel, specialist alloys and valve distributors E-Metals Cape joined forces under the EMVAfrica umbrella to create a “dynamic, single-source solutions provider and service suite” for clients in Africa.

“Under EMVAfrica’s product portfolio, ENERGYValves division is established primarily to complement the process materials offering and hold stock of stainless steel and special alloy valves,” says EMVAfrica director Graham Whitty.

With stainless steel forming the bulk of the valves range, the division also offers valves in Duplex, titanium, 904L, zirconium and nickel alloys, as well as numerous other high-performance alloys.

“Our valves are well accepted across a wide spectrum of applications in the mineral processing, water treatment, petrochemicals, power generation, food and beverage, and general industrial sectors,” Whitty points out.

He states that EMVAfrica remains committed to providing the finest-quality products coupled with “unrivalled service excellence to our clients, irrespective of the application”.

The company’s valves portfolio includes a range of ball, knife gate, wedge gate, butterfly, check, needle and pressure relief valves.

In addition to stainless steel, ENERGYValves also supplies valves in lower steel grades such as carbon steels.

Whitty adds that the division also holds extensive stock of the most commonly used valves in corrosion-resisting alloys.

ENERGYValves complements its valve range with a valve actuation service. The division has a fully equipped workshop stocked with a range of pneumatic double-acting and spring return actuators.

“About seven months ago, we decided to enter the valve actuator business. We imported our own pneumatic actuator and opened a workshop where we could assemble and test the actuator onto our valves. This is quite a big step for us it’s the beginning of a journey. The actuation industry . . . is wide and we focus particularly on a quarter-turn pneumatic actuator,” he explains.

Whitty expects that the actuator range will develop to include electronic actuators and various other control mechanisms for valves in the near future.

“ENERGYValves is passionate about providing premium solutions which affirm our reputation as a leading stainless steel and special alloy, valves specialist. We strive to be our clients’ preferred partner to assist them in enhancing their businesses’ productivity and profitability levels.”

Meanwhile, EMVAfrica emphasises the importance of traceability.

“Traceability in our industry is essential, it’s non-negotiable. Most of our clients insist that we provide material that is market traceable to their original test certificates from a manufacturer,” he says.

Whitty points out that clients often have dangerous and difficult applications and “it could be catastrophic” if they put the wrong material into that application, owing to the company having supplied it. Therefore, it is essential that EMVAfrica provides traceability and make it a key part of all processes and systems.

“No material leaves EMVAfrica’s premises without its test certificates and full traceability. EMVAfrica also has its own Positive Material Identification testing equipment, which allows for double checking material as it is received from a supplier and then sent to clients,” he concludes.
