New range of cordless, brushless power tools

Four new power tools have been recently launched in South Africa. The tools are designed using the latest graphene battery system technology and are set to lead the way in the 18 V cordless tool category.

Leading construction and mining equipment manufacturer CAT has extended its international brand with its latest cordless power tools, which include the following models:

Sold in South Africa by Vermont Sales under licence from Caterpillar, these four new products extend the company’s range, which currently includes the CAT DX12 18 V cordless and brushless drill –described as ‘the ultimate workhorse’. The drill is designed to be rugged and is said to be more compact, with greater power and much faster than  cordless drills currently on the market.  “It has undergone rigorous testing, including repeated drop tests, repetitive drilling, as well as extensive water, dirt and dust tests, plus temperature extreme survivability, vibration and tumble tests,” says Vermont Sales brand manager Greg de Villiers. “Since I was a little boy playing with my digger in the sand pit, CAT has always been a strong brand with durability and confidence in its DNA. CAT fans and others are going to experience the same with CAT Powertools,” enthuses De Villiers.

“Our heartland has traditionally been in mining, construction, engineering, agriculture and all associated trades, but we have also earned a strong following in lifestyle-led activities like high performance clothing, outdoor and sporting pursuits. Over time we’ve evolved our portfolio to reflect these core segments within our customer base,” explains Positec International export director for sub-Saharan Africa Wiktor Wencel.

The updated CAT power tool range is designed with a universal battery system, which means that the same type of battery and power supply fits all models of CAT cordless tools in the range. This allows users to expand their collection of tools at a lower cost.

The CAT brand of powertools will be available at specific retail stores and on the company’s dedicated powertools website.
