Product identification solutions provider Pyrotec PackMark will focus on showcasing its newly launched ultra-portable Anser U2 handheld printer the 9405 Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) coder and the C340 laser from product identification and traceability solutions manufacturer Markem-Imaje at Propak Cape this year.

Propak Cape will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from October 24 to 26 and will host more than 200 local and international exhibitors. The company will be situated in Hall 3, Stand A32.

The Anser U2 weighs less than 1 kg, can print on a variety of surfaces at different angles, has a seven-hour battery life and boasts continuous printing of more than 200 000 characters, Pyrotec PackMark GM Brandon Pearce explains.

Further, the printer uses a plug-n-print ink cartridge with Hewlett-Packard’s thermal inkjet 2.5 printing technology, while the cartridge is also maintenance free and does not incur downtime costs.

Used for various packaging applications, the Anser U2 is also equipped with a pocket-sized remote keypad with digital menu selection and a slot design SD card. This allows for easy software upgrades and dates backup and stores up to 999 messages.

Pyrotec will also showcase the 9405 CIJ, which is a coder that offers quick multiline message setup. Pearce says the coder provides constant quality coding, with long maintenance intervals.

“The 9405 CIJ is supported by its hygienic fully stainless steel design with no retention zones that allows for easy daily washdown,” he states, adding that one of C340 lasers will also be showcased.

The C340 has two heat sensors, two cooling fans and heat dissipaters that will ensure that it does not overheat. It also enables the C340 to be used in 45 ºC at
80% of its power consistently, with its lowest operating temperature at 5 ºC.

“The laser can be integrated into current production systems and can be classified as being part of Industry 4.0. The C340 can be accessed through the Internet . . . it just needs to be connected to the local area network,” he highlights.

Other technologies will be on show at the stand.

Pearce says Pyrotec has been attending Propak Cape for many years, since before 2000. “We normally don’t have a lot of challenges, as we have done this show for so many years and have a plan in place that works. “We also start planning for the show a year before the time, which also helps in ensuring that we don’t encounter challenges along the way.”

Pearce concludes that the Pyrotec PackMark team will be on hand to provide expert technical advice about the best printing, coding, marking, labelling and software integration solutions for customers.
