New inkjet printer offering

4th June 2019

A new range of inkjet multifunction printers (MFPs) for businesses has been launched.

The printers have been designed for small- to medium-sized environments, such as companies and public sector organisations with limited budgets and resources. They aim to maximise efficiency and productivity, while reducing maintenance and printing costs.

Canon Europe’s WG7400 series includes the WG7450F, WG7450 and WG7440 MFP models. The compact devices carry out A3 printing at up to 80 pages per minute, with selected models also offering double-sided colour-scanning. A newly developed print-head promotes a smoother delivery of ink, to improve print-quality and reduce duplicate-printing.

The devices have been designed with fewer replaceable parts, potentially reducing the machine’s overall downtime. Ideally suited to offices with monthly print volumes of up to 5 000 sheets, the MFPs aim to streamline heavy document workflows. The models include a 5-inch colour touchscreen for data input and operation.

The paper feeder helps limit paper jams and the self-serviceable design includes auto-sleep and auto-shutdown options that comply with global environmental standards. The printer’s space-saving design, with the opening covers at the front and right side of the machine, allow it to be installed against a wall or in a corner. It has an energy consumption of about 1.25 kWh a week, aimed at reducing running costs and environmental impact.

The series includes various advanced processing features, such as automatic size detection, identity card copying and universal serial bus (USB) printing which allows scanned data to be printed or saved directly to a USB, without a personal computer (PC). Users are able to operate the devices through a fixed network connection linked to a PC or by direct wireless connections to applications on smartphones, tablets or laptops.

The security features allow a user to set access privileges, control the machine from a computer and apply restrictions to print and scan jobs, which may be particularly useful for businesses that manage sensitive commercial or public data.

The devices also offer multiprotocol support, allowing users to select multiple file formats that, once scanned, can be sent or saved to various destinations. This includes sharing compact or searchable portable document formats to email, facsimile, file transfer protocols and Script Maker files.
