New division rolls out diesel generators

A Megagen genset

A new a range of diesel generators is now on offer, starting from 12 kVA, single phase units, up to 1 MVA 400 V three-phase generators.

The generators are supplied by Megagen, a new division of Megadrive Automation. The division assesses customers’ needs by conducting load analysis over a period of minimum and maximum demand, and then customises generator sets (gensets) according to the specifications most suited to a client’s requirements.

The analysis includes assessing factors such as fuel tank size, available footprint, enclosure options, such as open frame or completely silent, and type of switchgear controls required, whether automatic, manual or remote.

Enclosure options include steel or 3CR12 stainless steel structures.  Bigger gensets are housed in single or dual configurations in 6-m-sized shipping containers that comply with International Organisation for Standardisation specifications.

Load transfer switching is a feature included on all the units in the range. The switching can also be substituted for a remote switching option. Tried-and-tested deep-sea controllers are used, from simple changeover type controllers to load sharing and synchronisation applications, with the option of remote global system for mobile communications control and monitoring, to enable the use of load-shedding schedules and to ensure continuous power to a plant.

The company also refurbishes, rebuilds and modernises out-of-date generator sets that are fitted with old legacy controls. The generators can be refurbished to original specification, with the additional option of adding further modifications. The revamping of old gensets helps to save costs and extend the life of the units.

Service level agreements are offered to all clients and diesel treatment options, such as filtration and special anti-algae additives, are also available.
