New chemical fixing solution reaches local shores

19th June 2015

Construction fastener distributor Upat South Africa has expanded its range of chemical fixings, following the launch of the fischer Superbond chemical fixing range at the end of last year.

The Superbond – a universal solution for cracked concrete – is available as RSB resin capsules or injection systems, known as SB 390 S injection mortar. The solution can also be combined, as each performs equally at the same anchor depth, allowing for increased installation flexibility.

The fixing solution can be applied to variable anchorage depths from 60 mm to 600 mm. It is also approved for installation in applications that reach up to –30 °C.

Superbond can also be used in conjunction with the fischer RG MI internally threaded anchor solution, which disolves the Superbond resin capsule in a drill hole, thereby mixing and activating the resin. The resin then adheres to the entire surface of the internal threaded anchor and bonds it to the wall of the drilled hole.

The RSB resin capsules are approved for installation in water-filled drill holes and diamond drill holes.

The Superbond solution is ideal for a range of applications, such as heavy steel construction, silo installations, high racks, sound insulation walls, guardrails and staircases.

About Upat
Germany-based Upat invented chemical anchors in 1963 in response to the need for fixing technology that could withstand exceptional loads with minimal anchor-to-anchor spacing and smaller edge distances. In 1983, Upat SA started trading as the sole Southern African distributor and agent for the Upat range of construction fasteners and fixings.

In 1992, the Germany-based Fischer group of companies bought Upat Germany and started with the integration of the Fischer and Upat product ranges.

This final integration was realised in South Africa in 2003.
