New chairperson appointed at Isuzu Motors South Africa

Naohiro Yamaguchi

Naohiro Yamaguchi has been appointed as the new chairperson of Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSAf).

Yamaguchi has held various leadership roles throughout his 35 years with the Japanese vehicle manufacturer.

He has been international sales office manager in Japan from 1999 to 2003, while he also held various GM positions in Thailand from 2003 to 2015, and senior executive positions specialising in light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in India from 2015 to 2021.

Yamaguchi will continue serving in his current role as senior executive officer for the LCV business, and will start his duty as chairperson to IMSAf while residing in Japan.

“We are pleased to have Naohiro Yamaguchi join the IMSAf team, especially given the extensive Isuzu experience he brings with him,” says IMSAf president and CEO Billy Tom.

“We look forward to supporting him in his chairmanship as we continue to grow Isuzu from strength to strength in the markets we represent.”

Yamaguchi takes over the position from Shigeji Sugimoto, who has been IMSAf chairperson since March, last year.

Sugimoto fulfilled his role as chairperson while based in Dubai, and will now begin a new role as senior executive officer and chairperson of Isuzu Motors Sales Co., which is the biggest distribution subsidiary in Japan.
