Food and beverage company Nestlé's East & Southern Africa Region (ESAR) is undertaking several sustainability initiatives, aligned with the group’s 2030 ambition of zero environmental impact by its operations, and to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Tasneem Bulbulia expands.

As alluded to, the latest of its initiatives is the addition of solar capacity at its Babelegi manufacturing plant, in Hammanskraal, Gauteng, which manufacturers Cremora coffee creamer and Maggi two-minute noodles. Weaville expands on this, and other initiatives at the facility.

Modderfontein-based automation company Omron has partnered with medical equipment company Mamello Clinical Solutions to bring an automated robotic disinfection device into South Africa.
Aimed primarily at the healthcare industry, for use in hospitals and clinics, the HERO21 uses an array of ultraviolet lights in the germicidal spectrum to kill germs and disinfect surfaces.
