The Nkandla debacle is unlikely to lead to a change in leadership within the African National Congress, nor materially affect the May election result. But the blatant disregard shown for law, procedure and basic morality is shameful. It further erodes public confidence in government, its leaders and its officials. This is surely not the type of ‘developmental State’ we want or deserve.
