Multipurpose drilling rigs to be displayed at expo

THE KLEMM BOHRTECHNIK KR 909-1 The drilling rig has been specifically designed for small-diameter drilling

Bauer Maschinen Group will exhibit machines specifically selected for the South African market at the 2015 BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA, which runs from September 15 to 18 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.

Bauer’s successful BG series Rotary drilling rigs will be represented at the event by the Bauer BG 20 H PremiumLine rotary drilling rig, tailored to meet the typical specifications for its class.

The BG 20 H demonstrates the multifunctional concept of the BG series. The BG 20 H will be equipped with a Kelly bar, which is capable of installing bored piles up to a depth of 40 m.

The machine is prefitted with the equipment needed to install and operate a heavy-duty hydraulic casing oscillator, which allows for temporary drill pipes to be inserted and removed, even in difficult ground conditions.

The BG 20 H is also equipped with the preliminary setup for installing piles with the double rotary, or FoW, method. With FoW equipment, bored pile walls can be constructed adjacent to neighbouring buildings as retaining walls for deep excavations.

Machines manufactured by Bauer subsidiaries, such as Hausherr System Bohrtechnik, will also be on display.

The HSB 3000 is a typical representative of the Hausherr series, comprising nine models. Capable of drilling blast holes with a maximum diameter of 165 mm to a depth of 45 m, it is powered by a diesel engine in the 290 kW to 350 kW range and has an operating weight of about 25 t.

All the models of this series are also able to execute horizontal drilling operations. The Klemm Bohrtechnik KR 909-1, a robust universal drilling rig in the 13 t class, has been specially designed for the varied applications in the small-diam- eter drilling sector.

The Bauer Maschinen Group markets its products and services worldwide. The company’s core operations are divided into three segments, namely construction, equipment and resources.

Bauer's equipment division offers a comprehensive range of construction machinery, equipment and tools for the specialist foundation engineering sector, as well as for other underground drilling operations, such as mines, water wells, geothermal energy sources, and oil and gas extraction.

Meanwhile, Hausherr System Bohrtechnik develops and manufactures hydraulic drilling rigs for application in quarries, opencast mines and the exploration of natu- ral resources. The company’s 60 years of experience and continuous development in its field emphasise its technical competence.

Hausherr machines are particularly well suited for down-the-hole drilling applications. Klemm Bohrtechnik is the specialist for anchor drilling rigs in Bauer Maschinen Group.

The company is expecting numerous visitors at Stand T2-130 in the open-air area of the Johannesburg Expo Centre.
