Telecommunications group MTN has appointed Chika Ekeji as executive for strategy and transformation, effective March 15.

This forms part of MTN’s plans to further bolster management capacity to accelerate its strategic ambitions, which focuses on accelerating growth, deleveraging the holding company debt and unlocking value.

The company will present its revised strategy, which was announced in December, after the release of 2020 full-year results on March 10.

Ekeji, to be based in South Africa, joins MTN from management consultancy McKinsey & Company in Nigeria, where he led the West Africa Digital Practice and served telco, financial services, and public sector clients across Africa.

A Nigerian-American national, Chika has a Masters of Engineering in Computer Science from Cornell University and an MBA from MIT.
