Mixer-pump for high-volume gypsum applications

10th September 2019

A mixer-pump with variable speeds from 0 to 18 cubic yards an hour and long-distance and high-volume pumping capabilities, is now available.

The pump can be used for gypsum flooring underlayment, grouting, cellular concrete and some wet shotcrete applications. It promises smoother material delivery for specialty applications, ease-of-use for operation and maintenance, and durability for optimum efficiency in a variety of applications.

Shotcrete and gunite mixer and pump manufacturer Blastcrete Equipment, developed the RS180 mixer-pump as a solution to the challenges of applying gypsum floor underlayment. The company found that its customers needed an alternative to standard squeeze pumps, in particular a pump that could pump further and faster without surging.

To eliminate material surges and allow for higher pumping volumes, the mixer-pump incorporates an adjustable 2L8 rotor-stator pump. The adjustable rotor-stator, or progressive cavity, design allows contractors to tailor material flow to the job at hand. By tightening the unit, operators can increase line pressure for longer vertical or horizontal pumping distances. For shorter distances, the unit can be loosened. This flexibility is aimed at limiting wear and increasing longevity and durability. In addition, the company states that its mixer-pump is easy to operate and maintain with minimal moving parts.

In addition to the 2L8 rotor-stator, the mixer-pump features a 12-cubic-foot hydraulic spiral mixer, driven with a planetary gearbox, offering variable speed from 0 to 60 rpm for application- and site-specific adjustments. With the ability to mix a full load in less than two minutes, the mixer can minimise downtime and ensure a continuous flow of material. A 15-cubic-foot receiving hopper, charged with 1 000-pound bulk bags or an 11.6 cubic-foot skid steer bucket, also aims to increase job-site efficiency.

The mixer-pump is designed to make parts accessible, to facilitate cleaning and maintenance. In addition, the mixer can be detached from the unit by removing four bolts, allowing for easier maintenance.

The mixer-pump features a dual axle high-speed towing trailer and tubular steel frame, allowing for long-distance travel and increased mobility. It is powered by a 55- hp Yanmar water-cooled diesel engine.
