Metso Southern Africa

Finnish-owned Metso Southern Africa is a manufacturer and supplier of mineral processing equipment and systems. Its product and services range includes crushers, screens, grinding mills, floatation equipment, slurry pumps, bulk handling equipment, pyrometallurgical equipment and spare and wear parts, as well as inspection and maintenance.

The ISO 9001:2008-accredited company’s head office is in Jetpark, on Gauteng’s East Rand, while its engineering works and foundry are in Vereeniging, in the Vaal Triangle, and Isithebe, in KwaZulu-Natal, respectively.

Metso Southern Africa, which employs 1400 people and is wholly owned by the Metso group, has set up a new company, Metso Mining & Construction South Africa, which will be 25.1% black-owned, thus complying with the country’s Mining Charter.

Metso is the market leader for mining and construction process equipment and services in Southern Africa, with a presence and footprint that extend to Ghana and Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Its recent major contracts include the supply of slurry pumps worth E3.3-million to Brazilian resources giant Vale’s Moatize coal mine, in northern Mozambique.
