Established in November 2012, Gauteng-based Metec is a privately owned testing laboratory providing fully integrated spectrographic and mechanical laboratory services and metallurgical consultancy services.
The mechanical testing services provided by the six-employee laboratory include tensile testing, hardness testing, bend testing, nick-break testing and impact testing. The other services it provides are chemical analyses, including optical emission spectrographic analysis, welding procedure qualification, welding performance qualification, metallographic examinations and failure analysis, as well as positive material identification.
The laboratory, located in Edenvale, on Gauteng’s East Rand, has been Sanas ISO/IEC 17025:2005-accredited for chemical and mechanical testing safety management since October 2013 and also boasts several quality management accreditations.
