Project Description
Manono features ready-to-use tailings dump resources, a legacy of historical tin mining in the area, comprising 11 coarse tailings dumps divided into a northern and southern sector and named alphabetically from A to K.

The Northern Manono sector contains dumps A to F, while the Southern Kitotolo sector contains dumps G to K.

The tailings dumps will be reclaimed by an excavator at each of K, I and G dumps, and loaded onto dump trucks for transport onto an overland conveyor that will feed a stockpile at the processing plant. The plant will have a nameplate capacity of 1.26-million tonnes a year of run-of-mine ore producing about 112 000 t/y of spodumene concentrate over a six-year mine life.

On a nominal basis, the project shows a robust pretax net present value, at a 10% discount rate, of about $764-million and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 87.4%. The project has an estimated pretax net present value, at a 10% discount rate, of $638-million and an IRR of 82.3% on a real basis, with a payback of one year after first production.
