Malawi’s Roads Authority has invited expressions of interest from eligible consulting firms to undertake the design review and supervision of civil works for the Lirangwe–Chingale–Machinga road in the south of the country.

The consultancy assignment will be financed by the Kuwaiti Fund, which is expected to cofinance the mega road project with the Islamic Development Bank, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries Fund for International Development, the Saudi Fund for Development, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa.

“Eligibility criteria, establishment of the shortlist and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the procedures for selection of consultants specified by these financing institutions,” says the authority.

The deadline for submission of expressions of interest was April 10.

Road projects under way in Malawi include the rehabilitation of the Lilongwe–Nsipe road, the Blantyre-Zomba road and the Lilongwe bypass.
