Magalies Water exceeds performance on water quality

Magalies Water has exceeded all regulatory requirements on water quality, the bulk potable water supplier said on Tuesday.

"We are pleased to inform all our clients, customers and stakeholders that our four Water Treatment Plants (WTP) which constitute Vaalkop, Klipdrift, Cullinan and Wallmannsthal have in the last twelve months met and exceeded all regulatory requirements for water quality on drinking water," CEO Sandile Mkhize said.

Magalies Water said its laboratory in Brits was accredited by the South African National Accredited System (SANAS) for water and environmental analysis.

"Magalies Water constantly conducts intensive routine monitoring for all the determinants as required by the South African National Standard (SANS) for drinking water.

"Analyses are conducted on both the raw water as well as the final treated water supplied to our customers."

The bulk potable water supplier said it was committed to deliver on the mandate of providing sustainable bulk potable water services to water services authorities, Water services institutions and other users.

Magalies Water said it was leading by example on water quality and water services in South Africa - it has not only complied with all targets set by SANS but in all instances has exceeded the required standard.

This achievement was obtained despite the deteriorating raw water quality in both the Crocodile and Pienaar’s River catchments, which were characterised by algal bloom and elevated nutrients loads.
