LE South Africa ready to meet all lockdown plant lubrication needs

As South Africa is under national lockdown to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Lubrication Engineers (LE) South Africa is able to assist companies in protecting their equipment with proper lubrication and accessories.

“We have been issued our essential services permit as a critical repair supplier, so we are able to meet customers’ needs even under lockdown,” explains Callum Ford, National Marketing Manager at LE South Africa. “This is important because some of our clients are still operating and others have put their plant on care and maintenance. In both cases, proper lubrication is critical.”

For clients in essential industries, like food, agriculture and water treatment, it’s important to have access to lubrication products that will allow them to continue running their businesses. “If, for example, a bakery can’t purchase food-grade lubricants for their ovens, they can’t comply with food production regulations and have to shut down,” explains Ford. This puts food security and supply chain management at risk, as well as clients’ businesses.

On the other end of the spectrum, many businesses deemed non-essential have had to close their doors for the lockdown period, but they cannot fully shut down machinery without risking long-term damage and enormous financial expense. For example, mines are on care and maintenance, which means only core machinery, such as dewatering equipment, is being operated. These machines need to be properly maintained and run, which includes the correct lubrication supplies.

“Something else we can help with is providing products that will assist companies to manage their equipment with skeleton staff,” says Ford. “For example, our asset reliability solutions, which include things like single-point lubrication systems, oil sight glasses and desiccant breathers, are designed to help companies manage their equipment with minimal human effort.”
