LAST STRAW

The South African economy is under tremendous strain. Growth has been weak ever since the 2008/9 global financial crisis and the country’s immediate economic prospects are weighed down by the deceleration in China, the associated fall in commodity prices, domestic electricity shortages and poor business and consumer confidence. But now even nature seems to be against us, with warnings that the drought conditions could worsen. Hopefully, it’s not the recessionary final straw.
