Kimmo

With a compression strength of 16 t/m2, Kimmo manufactures honeycomb board, an extremely thick and sturdy material for use in protective transport packaging.

Having invested in high-quality honeycomb panel manufacturing technology, Kimmo specialises in manufacturing bulk bins, called KimmoBins, for transport packaging.

KimmoBins are export-ready, fully recyclable honeycomb crates with superior stacking strength and unsurpassed protective cushioning properties. They come flat-packed and are conveniently assembled and disassembled for multiple use. KimmoBins can also be branded and custom-made to specific sizes and needs. Moreover, they are extremely cost effective, compared with traditional wooden crates, and provide similar protection and strength.

KimmoBins are accepted for exports to all countries, as they are ISPM-15 compliant, which means that they are risk free in terms of pest infestation traditionally associated with wooden crates and pallets.

In addition to KimmoBins, Kimmo manufactures protective edgeboard, honeycomb pallets and corrugated pallet-box combinations. Sheets of honeycomb board are also available in a variety of thicknesses. The core which is nested in the honeycomb sandwich is also sold separately to manufacturers of hollow-core doors and automotive trim.

Established in 2006, the company considers itself a market leader in the cartonboard pallet and protective packaging industry. With a production capacity of over 500 KimmoBins a day, Kimmo is geared for serious growth. Operating in a market with an intense focus on cost saving, coupled with pressure to actively move to more environment-friendly products, Kimmo has seen a consistent growth of 20% or more in its yearly turnover over the past few years.

The company operates out of a 4 500 m2 factory, located at 37 Fortune street, in City Deep, south of Johannesburg.
