The project is located in the Kaolack region, 200 km south-east of Dakar, in Senegal.

Client
Kahone Solaire, a special purpose vehicle comprising Engie Global Developments (40%), Meridiam Infrastructure Africa Fund FIPS (26.3%), Meridiam Infrastructure Africa Parallel Fund FIPS (13.7%) and Fonsis SA (20%).

Project Description
The project entails the construction of a 44 MWp solar PV plant. The plant will be connected to the national grid through a 300 m underground transmission line. The electricity generated by the plant will be sold to State-owned power utility Senelec under a separate 25-year power purchase agreement.

Potential Job Creation
The plant will generate about 100 construction jobs for about one year, and operations will involve about ten workers.
