Consulting engineering firm ILISO Consulting has expanded into Namibia, appointing director and office manager Theunis Heunis, along with a strong board of directors, comprising chairperson Namibian ophthalmologist Dr Helena Ndume, consulting CEO Clint Koopman and Namibian operations MD Hans Hartung, to head up the new Windhoek-based office.
The engineering, environmental and project management services specialist aimed to leverage Namibia’s imminent public and private-sector infrastructure, housing and roads development plans and “seize” new opportunities in the Southern African region.
“While there are a number of consulting engineering firms currently operating in this region, we believe ILISO has a unique advantage, and much to add in terms of our diverse range of expertise in infrastructure, transportation, structures, management services and environmental management,” Heunis said in a statement on Wednesday.
Hartung added that the new office had embarked on broad-based black economic-empowerment initiatives as it set up shop in the country, with partnerships being formed with “young, up-and-coming” local consulting engineering firms.
“We have much to offer these developing firms in terms of transferring financial, management and project management skills,” he said.
