Hurst Hill reservoir remains low

The Hurst Hill reservoir is still running low after the two-hour shut down of Rand Water’s Eikenhof Pumping Station on June 5 to enable City Power to fix an electrical fault on the power line.

This setback had negatively impacted recovery, as the water supply system recovers slowly during the day owing to high water demand.

However, with no further interruptions, the trend indicates that the system recovery will be much better towards the end of this week, Rand Water and Johannesburg Water said in a statement on June 9.

“Johannesburg Water has since worked on cross feeding the affected zones through the Brixton Tower and continues to monitor water levels of reservoirs feeding both Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital and Helen Joseph Hospital to ensure adequate supply. Helen Joseph Hospital will be switched back to the Hurst Hill reservoir once water levels improve,” the agencies assured.
