Huawei earmarks R100 for SMEs over next three years

JAY ZHOU The Everything-as-a-Service approach brings together traditional cloud offerings such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Technology-as-a-Service and Expertise-as-a-Service

Information and communication technology (ICT) giant Huawei is preparing for the launch of its third data centre availability zone, three years ahead of schedule, as part of Huawei Cloud’s ‘Everything-as-a-Service’ approach, which is being adopted locally and globally.

Once live, the availability zone will halve cloud latency.

“The Everything-as-a-Service approach brings together traditional cloud offerings, such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Technology-as-a-Service and Expertise-as-a-Service,” says Huawei Cloud South Africa MD Jay Zhou.

“Key to this approach is thinking cloud-native, acting cloud-native, and applying an all-digital, all-cloud, artificial intelligence-driven mindset,” he told delegates at the Huawei Eco-Connect event, which was held in July.

Significant computing power will be required in the future and the best way to provide that power is through the cloud, he says.
