Hand wash reminder for industries

Sounder reminds staff to wash hands at regular intervals

A newly-designed industrial hand wash sounder aims to become an essential tool in the fight against Covid-19.

The units are specifically designed for use in large, noisy industrial environments such as chicken processing, food factories and food packaging sectors, as a means of reminding staff to wash hands at regular intervals.

Mimic Components designed the units in response to evidence that hand-washing for 20 seconds has been proven to be an effective way of preventing the spread of coronavirus.

The hand wash sounder is activated by a pre-set timer which triggers a half-hourly alarm that lights a bright red light-emitting diode in either a steady or flashing mode, at one second intervals for twenty seconds, and a sound alarm that activates for five seconds at the start of the hand washing session and a further two seconds at the end of the session.

As factories and industrial environments require a higher decimal output for the alarm to be heard over working machinery, the hand wash sounder comes with an inbuilt electronic sounder and an output contact for switching to remote sounder and flasher combination units to alert staff. The electronic components of the units are fitted into a protective electrical enclosure.

The units are available in two models, for commercial use and industrial use, and in three sizes, for small, medium-sized and large factories. Both models can be custom manufactured and the hand wash sounder can be connected to a  pre-existing external siren.
