Project Description
The project involves the construction of 34 MW solar PV power plant comprising 100 000 solar panels. 

On average, the solar plant is expected to supply Rio Tinto’s Gudai-Darri iron-ore mine with electricity during peak solar power generation times and about 65% of the mine’s average electricity demand. 

Together with a new 12 MW/h lithium-ion battery-energy storage system, the solar plant is expected to reduce Rio Tinto’s carbon dioxide emissions by about 90 000 t/y, compared with those of conventional gas-powered generation.
