Diversified miner Glencore has appointed David Wormsley as an independent nonexecutive director, with immediate effect.

He had a 35-year career at Citigroup (originally Schroders), culminating in his appointment as chairperson of UK banking and broking, before retiring earlier this year.

During his career, he led a variety of large international transactions ranging across initial public offerings, debt financings, equity fundraisings and large-scale mergers and acquisitions.

Wormsley is currently a nonexecutive director of Stanhope.

“The directors are very pleased to welcome David Wormsley to our board. He brings extensive knowledge of the corporate and banking sectors, both in the London market and internationally. We look forward to his contribution to our board,” comments Glencore chairperson Kalidas Madhavpeddi.
