Latest Developments
SP PowerGrid has awarded ABB a contract to supply the GIS substations.

As part of the turnkey contract, ABB will design, engineer, supply and install the GIS substations, which include state-of-the-art control and protection systems, as well as ancillary equipment.

The scope also includes replacing ageing equipment at two existing facilities to strengthen the national grid by increasing capacity and enhancing power reliability.

The GIS technology will reduce the substations’ footprint, compared with that of conventional air-insulated switchgear. This technology will also increase the substations’ power capacity, allowing SP PowerGrid to cater for future demand.
