Fuso to deliver 250 trucks to Baker’s Inn in Zimbabwe

Fuso Trucks and its authorised regional distributor, Zimoco, has started delivery of 50 new FE7-136 units to Baker’s Inn.

The first 50 units form part of an order of 250 trucks.

The remaining units will be delivered in batches in the upcoming years with the ultimate aim being replace the company’s existing non-Daimler Truck fleet.

“For us, this is an exciting time as we move into a new chapter of our lives,” says Baker’s Inn COO Benjamin Mavros.

“With our growing economy and population, it is our goal to increase production to 1-million loaves a day, [up from 450 000 loaves a day].

“We are pleased to have identified a partner in Zimoco, Fuso Trucks, as well as Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA) at large, to provide the distribution solution to carry our bread to all corners of Zimbabwe to ensure our people have the best possible access to freshly baked bread every day.”

Since the official opening of the Daimler Regional Centre Southern Africa in 2016, Zimoco and its sister dealership, Southern Cross Motors, have been the exclusive general distributors of DTSA commercial vehicles in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

“Any deal at the moment in Zimbabwe is a good deal and we are pleased by the trust and confidence that Baker’s Inn has placed in us,” says Zimoco CEO Bob Crossley.

“We have been working on this deal for the past five years.”
