Free software for lubricator set-up

The new version of SKF's DialSet 7.0 can be used on any smart device

SKF recently announced an update of its free-of-charge software program, DialSet 7.0, aimed at further streamlining its automatic lubricator set-up.

After selecting the criteria and grease appropriate for the application, the new fully updated programme calculates the correct settings for SKF automatic lubricators and pumps. This helps to ensure that the correct lubrication as well as the right quantity is released at the right time. It also provides a quick tool for re-lubrication intervals and quantity calculations, as well as recommending better and more cost-effective solutions.

“Accurate lubrication is fundamental to prolonging the life of bearings, giving rise to high equipment availability, prolonged lifecycle and subsequent plant uptime,” notes SKF product manager – MaPro Eddie Martens. “However, just as important as the lubrication process itself, is the application of the right quantity of lube at the right time.” He also points out the cost implications associated with over-lubrication and the accompanying high grease consumption as well as under-lubrication which can potentially result in equipment failure and subsequent production stoppages.

Accurate calculations of lubrication intervals, which are determined by the properties of the selected grease, minimise the risk of under- or over-lubrication while optimising grease consumption. The calculations, which are based on SKF lubricating theories combined with best practices, consider a range of factors including the automatic lubrication systems and grease dispense rates. This helps to ensure the selection of the correct lubricator setting.

The company notes that the recent system updates include the full range of its high-performance lubricants to facilitate use and application. SKF DialSet 7.0 is said to be able to calculate dispense settings for LAGD gas driven and electro-mechanical single point units (TLSD, TLSD 1-DK) as well as the SKF electro-mechanical single point automatic lubricant dispenser (TLMR series) and SKF Multipoint lubricators (TLMP series). The updated software also includes a complete list of the SKF System 24 accessories for easy reference.

The application is designed for use on any smart device and all calculations will be downloaded to the device allowing for offline usage. The tool is currently available in English with other languages available soon.
