Former IOCC CFO appointed at Champion Iron

Donald Tremblay, a former CFO of Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOCC) has been appointed CFO at Champion Iron.

“We are thrilled to welcome Donald Tremblay to our executive team,” stated Champion CEO David Cataford.

“His expertise in the mining sector and experience as an executive of senior public companies will be an asset for our company, as we evaluate our many organic growth projects to further decarbonize the steel industry.”

Prior to joining IOCC in 2018, Tremblay served as CFO for TransAlta Corporation and Brookfield Renewable Power. He has more than 25 years of extensive financial experience with strategic abilities in capital markets, investor relations and corporate development.

Champion Iron, through its subsidiary Quebec Iron Ore, owns and operates the Bloom Lake Mining Complex, located on the south end of the Labrador Trough, about 13 km north of Fermont, Québec. Bloom Lake is an openpit operation with two concentrators that primarily source energy from renewable hydroelectric power.
