JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Two Western Australian mining executives, Tom Revy and George Bauk, have been appointed to the initial board of new pure play graphite explorer Graphite Australia, to drive the public float and ASX listing of the company.

Graphite Australia will house the Western Australian graphite interests of Lithium Australia, which in May announced that it would spin out its graphite assets and list them separately. Lithium Australia has applied for eight exploration licences in five project locations over 589 km2.

Revy, executive director and a mining professional of more than 30 years, will be tasked with driving the prelisting requirements and then the initial public offering. He is a current or former senior executive with listed entities, including Ferrum Crescent, Energio subsidiary KCM Mining, Worley Parsons, JB Were & Son and GRD Minproc, among others.

Bauk is the current nonexecutive chairperson of Lithium Australia and has more than 25 years’ mining industry experience.

The current float structure for Graphite Australia is expected to see Lithium Australia emerge as a significant shareholder in the new graphite listing.
