Fibertex Geosynthetics Workshop Tanzania

Fibertex SA recently held a training workshop in Dodoma, Tanzania, covering the economic and engineering advantages of incorporating Geosynthetics in designs and construction.

This seminar was a follow-up to the International Institute of Engineers Conference in Arusha, Tanzania, at the end of last year, where Fibertex presented a paper on Geosynthetics for road construction.

“The workshop, which was organised by Nabaki Afrika Limited and TANT², was attended by engineering teams from TANROADS and TARURA,” explains Johnny Oriokot, geotechnical engineer, Fibertex SA. “This was in line with the mission of TANT2 which is ‘to foster safe, efficient and environmentally sustainable transportation systems in Tanzania, by improving skills and knowledge of transportation providers and users through training, technical assistance and technology transfer.”

The programme included an introduction to Geosynthetics; designing for separation, filtration, drainage and protection functions; reinforcement and stabilization; erosion control and slope protection; FiberRock coastal protection, as well as Geosynthetics testing and specifications.
