FEELING POWERLESS

South Africans are all too aware of how power cuts can drain business confidence and raise social tensions. Sadly for the citizens of Venezuela, they too are being hit hard on the electricity front. Government has been rationing electricity and water supplies for months as the country endures a prolonged drought that has slashed output at hydroelectric dams. Pictured above, people walk under improvised electrical wiring – an indication that South Africa is not alone in having to deal with the scourge of electricity theft.
