Malawi – The European Union (EU) has approved funding for a number of road and bridge projects in Malawi.

The projects include the Masasa–Golomoti–Monkey Bay road project, which involves the rehabilitation of the road that links the main road between the commercial city, Blantyre, and the capital, Lilongwe, to the port of Monkey Bay in the lake district of Mangochi.

The EU is bankrolling the road project to the tune of 16,8-million.

A consortium of South African construction firms, Murray & Roberts and Group Five International, dubbed the Murray & Roberts/Group Five Joint Venture, has been contracted by the Malawian government to carry out the construction work for the road project.
