Elmacast Engineering, a proud Level-2 broad-based black economic-empowerment company, has been under new management and ownership since 2018. The company now specialises in high-precision chrome alloy castings, focusing specifically on grinding media, ground-engaging tools and high-wear products such as slurry pump casings and valves.

Elmacast serves a range of customers, all with challenging demands, within the mining, cement and power generation industries. Its vast knowledge and experience in the casting of high chrome white irons allows Elmacast to offer custom-fit solutions to its clients.

With the latest upgrades to its facilities in Springs, South Africa, the foundry can produce 2 000 t of grinding media a month, in numerous sizes and with various chrome contents. Elmacast’s 80 000m2 site includes a metallurgical laboratory, offering a complete range of testing and analysis that guarantees the quality of final products, to meet customer specifications. All heat treatment, tempering and final finishing is done on site to ensure that the full value chain, from casting to final packaging, is managed in-house.

The company has a current order book value of over R10-million a month and its products include high-chrome cast-grinding media and casted components.

Elmacast is OHSAS 18001:2008, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015 accredited. The company employs more than 100 people and strives to protect and maintain the health and safety of its staff and the surrounding community, with a strong commitment to caring for the environment.
