Project Description
The project entails the construction of a 185 800 m2 EV battery plant that will produce about 40 GWh/y. The plant will exclusively supply Honda automotive plants to support the company’s plan to build battery EVs in North America.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create 2 000 jobs.

Capital Expenditure
LGES and Honda have committed to invest $3.5-billion in the new facility, with their overall investment projected to reach $4.4-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
The project broke ground in February 2023, with completion expected by the end of 2024. The plant aims to start mass production of pouch-type lithium-ion batteries by the end of 2025.
