Easy access to lifebuoys improves water safety

A Lifebuoy Cabinet mounted on a galvanised pole

Specially-manufactured storage casings to house life-saving buoys at the waterside, aim to ensure the quick location and access to lifebuoys and the improvement of water safety.

The Lifebuoy Cabinet is constructed from durable polyethylene material and can be mounted onto poles, walls and rails. It is suitable for housing both 30 inch and 24 inch round lifebuoy rings and can be supplied with a removable cover.

In addition, the cabinet protects water-safety equipment from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays, theft and vandalism. It includes a line holder that allows the user to throw and retrieve a lifebuoy in an emergency. A plastic, UV-resistant rope holder fits into the internal diameter of the cabinet, allowing the lifebuoy to be deployed without the rope twisting or tangling.

Installations of the cabinets have been completed at a number of waterside locations, including: the President Hotel, Arabella Golf Estate, V&A Waterfront, Water Club, Harbour Island, Atlantic Beach Golf Estate, Royal Cape Yacht Club and Crystal Beach Hotel.

The company also supplies SR throw bags, which hold rescue-rope that can be deployed for water rescue. The throw bags are contained in waist-pouches, for ease-of-access in case of an emergency.
